Quasar flying trapeze
I caught up with the UNSW Circus Society last weekend at the Quasar Trapeze School at the Sydney Olympic Park. That's Huw from Circusoc getting ready - he's actually at, what I found to be, the hardest part - reaching your left hand out to the bar. This was the second time I've done this, the first was over a year ago when I took Amy there for her birthday. It won't be the last time either. Not only is it a lot of fun, it's a surprisingly good workout. Photographically it wasn't a stellar day - we were there in the afternoon and directly in the shadow of Telstra Stadium.

3801 and Harry Potter
After the 2005 Gleewarts Express train to Hogsmeade returned to Sydney Central, the must have photo for many of the kids was in front of 3801's cab with the engineer. I think the witch and wizard in the foreground were ushering another Harry Potter for the pose that the photographed Harry Potter is in. What I like about this photo is the bits of ash floating in the air - that's a real steam engine - let there be no doubt about it. This has been a surprisingly popular image on my flickr site.

fire breather
From the 'Gleewarts Express' train trip. Circus performers from Circusoc - The University of New South Wales Circus Society were entertaining on the three hour steam train ride to 'Hogwarts' After everyone picked up their copies of The Half-Blood Prince the performers put on a fire breathing/fire twirling show for the few of us who didn't have our noses in the new book.

Harry Potters and The Gleewarts Express
Photos are up on flickr from the 'Gleewarts Express' train trip organised by Gleebooks along with 3801 Limited to launch the new Harry Potter book.
I'm not a huge Harry Potter fan, but when Amy asked if I wanted to go on a steam train to 'Hogwarts' to pickup the new book - well I can never say no to a steam train.
