halloween party

Some of the decorations at Rodd and Kris's Halloween party last night. I'm still feeling the effects from the Sangria.

did you pack this bag yourself

qantas blue skyI just can't help but think the following is happening daily at The Sydney Airport:

Agent: "How many bags are you checking?"
Passenger: "Just the one."
Agent: "Did you pack this bag yourself?"
Passenger: "Yes."
Agent: "Have you packed anything that does not belong to you?"
Passenger: "No."
Agent: "Has your bag been with you since you packed it?"
Passenger: "Yes."

Agent puts tag on luggage and takes it out to the footpath for someone to take to the aircraft later.

house on the rock self

house on the rock self
The House on the Rock was mentioned on Boing Boing and it reminded me of a few photos taken there back in 2002. You can see the confusion building in my face and this was early on in the visit. Next time you are in Southern Wisconsin, be sure to visit The House on the Rock - you can't miss the signs.

c'mon

This photo is from a scavenger hunt - part of that Customer Services Week at work. The week ended on a sour note - with layoffs on Friday. I'm still employed but several friends are not. (the folks in this image are still employed.) Part of the joy of working for a (to remain unnamed) multinational corporation

Ruchi

I don't normally blog about work, but it's been an interesting week there: Customer Services Week (an employee appreciation week) and I've been designated 'official photographer' - this is Ruchi, one of my colleagues who was serving up breakfast for the Customer Support Team on Monday.

knitty contest results

Hey! Remember back in August when I took some photos of Kris and Amy at the Sydney Opera House? These were submitted to Knitty for their 2006 calender and we just got an email confirming that one of the photos was selected! Woo Hoo! Right now I can't give you the specific details (like which image was selected) but the full contest results should be public soon.

inspired photographs

One of my favorite photographs from the 29 September (A Day on Earth) project was a similar image by dextr. His image was inspired by Grant Hamilton. dextr got the idea to create a group in flickr for images that were inspired by other images that could be linked to. I thought it was a great idea and faved dextr's image so I could find and join the group later.

Today I was in Hurstville (for a Model Railway show - I havn't gone through those photos yet, but may post something later) anyway, while I was walking from the car I found myself under the flight path to Sydney Airport. I couldn't believe it when a plane flew by this light post! I knew what I had to do. It took about 30 frames and at least 10 planes for me to get this shot. It's harder than it looks!

by the way, click through to the large size, this is my curent desktop
