clean sensor part 2
So I recently figured out that my camera turned one year old while I was in Tokyo. About the same time I found a dust speck on the sensor that I couldn't get off using my normal dust blower method. Since it's out of warranty now I thought it about time I give Petteri Sulonen's DIY sensor cleaning brush The Pixel Sweeper a go. Hey - works great! Go to Peteri's site and make your own sensor cleaning brush. Two thumbs way up!

telstra stadium
A day out to Olympic Park - a strange place to be when there isn't a massive event on. We went to see The Amazing Human Body Exhibition. It was a bit of a let down - nothing really new to those of use who grew up near the many museums in Chicago. Not worth the 20 bucks unless you've never seen anything like it, then I guess it would be interesting. Be warned: it feels like a trade show.

At Singapore Changi Airport
Mental note: Don't arrive so early for flights out of Changi. I expected a good hour for check in. Took 5 minutes. Yay! Free internet access at the airport. But I missed out on the free breakfast at the hotel and my cab ride here was in the dark.
This trip was very business heavy and photo light. I'll have some photos on line this weekend, but my camera spent most of it's time in my hotel room safe. I can't very well drag a DSLR to business meetings... hmmm, maybe I need to get a new compact for just such occasions. Like Wednesday night I had dinner in Chinatown at the Maxwell Food Centre - basically a bunch of stalls around communal tables - think food court at your local mall, but without any of the chain fast food joints. Most of the stalls only had two or three different things to choose from - so I got a Tiger Beer from one, Taiwanese beef noodle soup from another (disappointingly bland, but the beef was nice and tender) and on my way out I was very excited to see a sugar cane juice stand (in India I risked the local water in order to have some of this and loved it - in Singapore I could get it with ICE and not be worried) so of course I had to have some (the juice I had in India was better - so it appears that sugar cane juice is not as good without risk.)
Back toward the hotel I walked along a street with rows of nightclubs on one side and bridal shops on the other. I know there is a joke in there, but I just can figure it out.

chinese lion
Chinese New Year celebrations in Sydney's Chinatown. While I was editing the photos one of my colleagues in Beijing popped up on instant messenger - I had forgot that it's a working day in China today. Anyway, he filled me in on some of what was going on - the big thing I didn't release was that this is a lion, not a dragon. (There were dragons, but I didn't get a good photo of a dragon.)

tokyo crows
a quick grab of some of the many, many crows that live in Tokyo (at least I think they were crows, sure sounded like crows.)

A Narita Arrival
I've never had a photo taken out the window of a airplane turn out nice. Until this one. This one, I like.
