mate
Mate. I cannot believe how much I say the word now. In Australia it all seems perfectly normal. In the USA, hearing Australians say 'mate' is odd, but hey - they HAVE an Australian accent. Any hint of Aussie accent I had a week ago is long gone. Now, I sound like any other Midwesterner who calls all strangers "mate."
Oh, and I am also answering the question "How are you?" with "Good, thanks." Oddly I don't do that in Australia (at least I don't think I do...)

I have never managed to get my head around "mate." It just doesn't sound right coming out of my mouth. And anytime I even pretend to use it my wife laughs at me anyway.
Nice blog title too by the way. I had considered using it myself at one point. Better scratch it off the list now :)
