Virginia Anderson

My last surviving grandparent passed away this weekend, aged 92 years. She's been ill for a while and passed peacefully in her bed. This is probably my favourite photograph of her - as it was told to me this portrait was taken when she was named 'Miss Rockford' - the year must have been around 1933 (this print isn't dated.) I need to restore the cracks and smudges... I have her wedding portrait with Kelly and will post this soon.

Gorgeous. Simply gorgeous. They don't make 'em like they used to. I bet she was a nice grandma.

Her loving nature was just as beautiful.

I believe the date was 1933, as she was born in 1915.

Wow! I've never seen this photo of Grandma before--it is incredible. As I remember the story, Grandma was too shy to go sign up for the Miss Rockford contest but some guys she worked with at the local paper thought she should, so they physically carried her to the place to register. And then she won!

As Mom said, she was was wonderful as she was beautiful. She was everything you ever wanted in a Grandma and I really miss her. Thanks for posting these pics, Rob.
