googled

while in a meeting in Bangkok with one of my customers - one of the tech guys googled me. He found my flickr site and another Rob Barker's photo.net site (that Rob Barker is a scuba diver.) Yet another reason not to blog about work :)

airport bloggin

hmm, been bloggin from airports a lot lately. been travelling a lot lately. it's not so much fun anymore. and i can't believe how much food i've eaten in the last 24 hours. had dinner with the team last night at a lebanese restaurant - sanobar - and we eat and drank and were being merry and thinking, man, that was a great meal and then were told that that was just the appetizers! The mains consisted of the largest plates of grilled meat i've seen in a very long time. we barely made a dent in it and then retired to the lounge area where we were treated to some amazing belly dancing. really felt like i should have been smoking... the dancer did the usual try to pull one or two of the girls out of our group and get them to dance... turns out our singaporean customer care rep is a damn good belly dancer! i don't think i got any decent photos but once i upload, we'll see if there's anything flickr worthy.

Once again

Once again
Off to Singapore. Last few weeks have been really busy. Airplanes are the only times to rest and really think. It's sure gonna suck when they start letting us use mobiles in flight.

kuala lumpur and camp 5

To the rock climbers who read my blog (you know who you are) - if you find yourself in Kuala Lumpur and are looking for a good gym, go no further than Camp 5. Not only is that a slick web site, it's a slick gym. MASSIVE bouldering area. Three auto belays, which I've never used before - until today - and totally wiped myself out trying to get this 6c (5.11b) route on one of them - the crux was the 2nd to last move and the stupid auto-belay would lower me back to the ground every time I fell - um, i think 5 times... Then started swapping belays with a Welshman who's living in KL for the last 4 years or so (I think his name was Mark.)

Really nice gym - great routes - the bouldering problems got much easier once someone pointed out to me that features are OK for hands too (I'm used to feet only features) and a fantastic pro-shop.

Prices are a little higher then in the USA but heaps cheaper than Aussie prices - so I stocked up on some carabiners. And got me some sweet new prAna climbing pants (technically knickers, but not in an English/Aussie way)
