C Ray Anderson archives

I'm scanning several boxes of my grandfather's 4x5 negatives. These are from Colorado some time in the 50's. I'm hoping my mom who is in a lot of them can help me date them. This is left to right, my grandmother Virginia Anderson, my aunt Jean Anderson (Miller now) and my mom, Jill Anderson (Barker now) and one of my grandfather's sweet rides.

My grandfather was an accomplished painter as well as professional photographer. I remember a painting of this scene in his den. I know he worked off of photographs - he taught me how to paint off a photograph and the painting I rembember was exactly like this photo.

my new torture devices

After going through my second pair of La Sportiva Muiras (they lose their shape after the 3rd or 4th resole) I decided to give the new Miura VS a go - tried them on in the same size (40) as my Muiras and - wow! It's like a Muria only better! The toe box seems to have a slightly different shape and my big toe loves it. This is my first go with velcro shoes (I'm a bit traditional... and find the act to tieing shoes before a climb helps me focus so I'll need to adjust my pre-climb routine a bit.) I was hoping to break em in on real rock today but mother nature had other plans. rain rain go away!!!
Update: Seems La Sportiva has noticed how the Muiras age as well - the VS have some design changes to help which is cool cus I was going through one pair of shoes per year.
